Growing Studio

My home studio is growing as more students and parents are willing to travel great distances to take lessons with me. Summer is the perfect time to get into my schedule, try out my teaching techniques, and get a spot secured for the fall.

Founder and Director of the Badollet Ensemble, Principal Trumpet Asylum Hill Orchestra, Lead Trumpet at Curtain Call Theatre, Principal Trumpet with the 75th Anniversary Tour of Porgy & Bess and freelancer throughout the New England Area. I have performed with the Boston Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, former Principal Trumpet with the Key West Symphony, Palm Beach Opera, Bolshoi and Royal Ballet, New World Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, Portland Symphony, Evansville Philharmonic, and Owensboro Symphony.

I maintain a private studio at my home in New Haven, very convenient off of Rt. 95/91 merge with plenty of on street free parking.

I'm something of a "come-back" player who hopes to play in symphony orchestras, brass ensembles, and the like. I've got a way to go, but over the past year, Dan Duncan has been a big help. Dan explains problems I'm having, and offers tools to solve them. Other teachers I've had often say "just play", without explaining how to make the sound better. Dan does better, and shows how control of the tongue, and of air pressure and volume yield better and more musical sound. He imaginatively draws concepts from his many distinguished teachers, and modifies them to be helpful to me. He supports this with carefully selected exercises and etudes, from simple to quite advanced. Although Dan has lesson plans carefully designed, he adjusts them to help me with pieces I must play in ensembles, or to help with problems I've encountered. I recommend Dan highly, especially for students like me, who have spent years learning bad trumpet habits. A beginning student would be privileged to start out with Dan: good habits would be built from the start, and progress would be rapid.
